I strongly disagree to the developing of a casino here in Singapore.
I believe that by creating a casino, it will create disturbances that will be unpleasant to the society. I am talking about people losing money to the casino and thus getting bankrupt which may lead to broken families and unsafe streets in Singapore as there will be high chances that people may get mugged.
Crime rates will be higher and innocent people may fall victims, especially frail people and women.
Somehow, I think they are giving excuses such as the casino will be able to attract more tourists to Singapore as a way to build a casino.
Tourists who are big spenders wouldn’t even think of Singapore as a place to enjoy themselves lavishly. Las Vegas and Macau are the casino brand names. Why would they want to visit a small country where they won’t be guaranteed fun and sophiscation in the casino industry?
Sure it could be an advantage in a way that more jobs will be created and Singapore will have higher revenue but the disadvantages seem to outweigh the advantages.
It is just too big a risk to build a casino and then have people live in sorrow, live in fear, live in debt. In short, people live in a total nightmare.
So, I still think and I hope that the government will reconsider the casino issue and feel the same way as I do.
